Peer Program

The Peer Program bridges the gap between acute mental health crises and professional, clinical care. Our program trains volunteers to be active listeners and provides conflict coaching to individuals seeking assistance. Often first responders are worried and uncomfortable with talking to a professional therapist or counselor and would rather talk to another person who has been in the same proverbial weeds as they have. It can be much more comforting for individuals who have a hard time opening up to strangers not in their career field.

Request a Peer Session

The request form should not be used if you are in a crisis, please call 988 or 911 if you are experiencing an emergency.

How it works

First responders interested in a free peer session can complete our short confidential survey. The survey will ask a few questions to gather information about you and how we can assist you. We understand that it may seem like a lot, but to match you with the right peer, we need to know your situation. Rest assured, our intake form is protected with HIPAA-level encryption, so your information will remain safe.

What happens after I submit the form?

After we receive your request for a session, a member of our Peer Program will reach out to you within 24 hours to schedule your personalized session. They understand the importance of timely support and are committed to ensuring that you receive the assistance you need as soon as possible. Rest assured that our team is here to prioritize your wellness journey and provide the necessary guidance and resources to help you thrive.

How much does a peer session cost?

Peer sessions are an incredibly valuable resource that is now more accessible than ever to active and retired first responders across the United States. The best part? These peer sessions are completely free of charge, so you can take advantage of this supportive network without any financial burden. Whether you're seeking solace, guidance, or simply a listening ear, PWC allows you to have as many peer sessions as you need. There is no set limit, ensuring that you have the flexibility and support necessary to navigate the unique challenges that come with being a first responder. So, don't hesitate to reach out and take care of your well-being – PWC is here for you every step of the way.
